La première description de cas de vasculopathies polypoïdales choroïdiennes (VPC), récemment rebaptisées par Bailey Freund « néovaisseaux de type 1 avec anévrysmes », a été rapportée par Yannuzzi et al. en 1982 lors du congrès annuel de la Macula Society, puis publiée en 1990 [1,2].
